CEO’s Ex Wife Turns Down 974 Million in Divorce Settlement

A divorce is something that no person or couple looks forward to as they are often time-consuming, stressful, and costly. Unfortunately, divorce rates in America are at a high and statistics show that nearly 1 out of every 2 marriages will end in divorce. The divorce rate is even higher for second and third marriages and our state of Florida has one of the highest rates of divorce in the country. Things can get a bit tricky when it comes to pre-nuptial agreementsalimony, and spousal support as one party may not accept the terms in an agreement.

A Billion Dollars Is Not What It Used To Be

A billion dollars (974 Million to be exact, but who’s counting?) is a figure that 99% of the population will never earn even throughout the course of a lifetime. Some people could work 365 days a year from a legal working age until their death and still not earn 1% of a billion dollars.

974 million dollars is more than enough to last a lifetime but it wasn’t for the ex-wife of a billionaire CEO. Harold Hamm is the CEO of Continental Resources that unfortunately went through a bitter divorce. To settle the divorce, Hamm wrote his ex-wife a check for $974,790,317.77 and she actually turned it down. It is worth noting that Hamm is estimated to have an 18 billion dollar net worth and this may be why his ex-wife thinks that nearly a billion dollars is chump change.
