Here are some common factors that play a role in deciding how much a case will cost:
- Whether or not the divorce is contested. Contested divorces that go to trial cost more, because they’re more legally complex and require more time from the attorney to deal with negotiations.
- Child support, child custody, and alimony. If you and your spouse disagree on these details, your divorce will cost more since your attorney will need to devote time to negotiations with your spouse’s lawyer.
